Reaction Paper on Email and Hypertext

The Rhetoric of Email

Using Metaphors in Hypertext

References

In this paper, I react to two academic readings that discuss electronic communications. The first reading, Gail Hawisher and Charles Moran’s "Electronic Mail and the Writing Instructor," offers the beginnings of a rhetoric and a pedagogy of electronic mail.

My comments provided in The Rhetoric of Email touch upon this concept of email rhetoric and lead to an exploration of my own classroom experiences with the medium.

The second reading, Katherine Fischer’s "Down the Yellow Chip Road: Hypertext Portfolios in Oz," describes how the author’s students used hypertext to develop their creative writing portfolios.

In my response titled Using Metaphors in Hypertext Writing, I consider her students’ use of metaphors and whether I want to incorporate such a framework into my own Webfolio.

I have created this Webfolio to publish examples of my best work from the course, Computers in Composition, a 3-credit graduate offering from Northern Arizona University's English department.
