Oh, and by the way...

Just as a warning, I may or may not have a new blog link for you
soon....I'm looking into getting hosting with a friend of mine, and it
involves my own domain :-) So I'm probably moving the blog yet again
      (sigh).

lack of internet :(

Which means no pictures, as the computer/internet I'm using at the
moment doesn't have my digital camera software. Boo :-(

Received my Sockapalooza socks at the designated time, and they are
incredibly comfy! Got them from Rose and
I love them muchly. Will post picture when internet is back to normal.

Almost done with the Mystery Stole--bound off yesterday, and now it just
      needs blocking.

Finished a baby sweater sometime in the last month too--need to wash
that and send it off. (And take pics, naturally.)

Should clear off my current project list (at least partially) before I
      start a new one.

      Gotta run now.

Desert Flower Socks of Doom

Finally done with these. For some reason they seemed to take forever.

Pattern: My own
Yarn: Fearless Fibers Classic Merino in Desert Flower
Needles: sz 1 metal

I did a couple of things with these socks that I took closeup pictures of. First, I
"reversed" the gusset decreases...ssked where normally one would k2tog, and vice versa:

Also, I did a short-row toe with a zigzag bindoff:

I love how tidy this looks. Not going to be especially comfortable under shoes, but
I'll wear these with sandals or crocs.

Now, for my own sanity, I need to get something disgustingly bright on the needles.

Oh, by the way, I'm trying to destash some stuff...there's a link to a Flickr set of
pictures of the yarn I'm destashing over in the sidebar. There are a couple of larger
lots that I haven't taken pictures of yet that I need to add (10x beige Summer Tweed,
10x berry red Summer Tweed, and 8x lemon yellow Schachenmayr Nomotta Aurora), if you'd
happen to be interested in that. Also, I have an extra copy of Socks Soar on Two
Circular Needles...anyone want to swap that for some sock yarn or something?

Pomatomus

      12 down, 40 to go.

Pattern: Pomatomus from Knitty
Yarn: Claudia Hand Painted fingering
      in Cotton Candy
Needles: sz 1 rosewood until I snapped one of them
      *cry*, then sz 1 bamboo

Bedtime now, just wanted to get that posted. (I think my cedar chest
could use some refinishing, looking at that picture.)

Note to self: Need to wash the Sockapalooza socks before sending them
      off.

Ravelry.

Eee! Right now I'm 28th in line for Ravelry invites...I will probably
      have my invite tomorrow!

(If you want to check where you
      are on the list.)

Close to done with Pomatomus. It can't be too soon, IMHO. Also, since my
entry earlier, I'm leaning more and more toward frogging the Sampler
Stole. I think the yarn will be happier as something else. (Possibly Wicked ,
though I'll have to swatch, since this isn't a laceweight mohair I'm
using. I'm wondering if the pattern requires the mohair halo to work
      right.)

Edit: RIGHT after I posted this, I got my invite in my email! Username
      is...surprise, surprise...himeykitty.

Startitis

It's official. I am completely bored with every single thing I have on
my needles right now. (Actually, the Mystery Stole is an exception, but
as I am done with the current clue, I don't really have the choice to
work on that. So I am completely bored with every single thing on the
needles that I can work on.)

The Sampler Stole might end up being frogged, because as I work on the
Mystery Stole (which is stockinette lace), I realize that I really don't
much like the look of the garter lace that the Sampler Stole is.
However, the fact that I've been working on the Sampler Stole for almost
a year and a half is enough to keep me from frogging it. However again,
the fact that I've been working on it for almost a year and a half and
it's not even half done could be considered an argument for frogging it.
       What would you do?

I'm about a month behind on the 52 Pair Plunge (should have 15 pairs
done, have 11) and *gasp* I think I'm getting bored with socks. I think
I'm going to force myself to finish the Pomatomus today (I'm halfway
through the foot of #2), finish the Desert Flower socks this weekend
(I'll have a good amount of car time, and HP7 won't be an issue because
I read so damn fast), and then avoid socks for a bit, until the sock
yarn calls to me again. I'm finding myself wanting to start a sweater of
some sort--possibly with the metric ass-ton of Cascade Eco Wool I bought
at the LYS which is going out of business. (It doesn't surprise me
really--they haven't had much business since they moved to their
      current, much-less-convenient location.)

And I really should finish the Stripey Baby Sweater soon - Kris is about
to pop. (Have I mentioned I hate seaming? I took a class last week,
but I still don't enjoy it.)

I really want to start something new.....but am resisting the urge until
I finish a couple of things. I don't like having so much going at a
      time.

I'm a little behind on posting socks....

      #s 8, 9, and 10!

#8 is actually for my Sockapalooza 4 pal! It's going to be hard to let
these go--if it weren't for the fact that my sockpal's feet are a
completely different size, I might keep them and knit something else. I
can at least get more of the yarn for myself though.

Pattern:
      Waving Lace from Favorite Socks
Yarn: Claudia's Handpainted
fingering in Pink Dot. I wasn't sure about the color at first, but it
ended up working quite well, though hard to photograph on my sock
blockers. The wood is about the same value and doesn't contrast enough
to show the pattern. Which is why for once in my life, I took a closeup
      picture:

Needles:
Lantern Moon rosewood sz 1. I LOVE THESE NEEDLES.

      #9:

Pattern:
      Slinky Socks from Magknits
Yarn: Some leftover Regia
Needles:
      Brittany sz 2

      #10:

Pattern:
Quill Lace socks from Knitty (Spring '07)
Yarn: Mountain Colors
      Weavers Wool Quarters in Wilderness
Needles: Brittany sz 2
Now I
just need to find a use for the rest of the yarn. Probably a hat for
      next winter.

Finished socks!

Pair 7 of 52!

Pattern: 72-stitch stockinette sock, top down, afterthought heel
Yarn: Opal Petticoat #1295
Needles: sz 0

That's completed project #2 since I posted the other day. That means I can start
something new...just in time to start a new pair of travelling socks. Now, to go
stash-shopping...what yarn should I use?

The hero of Canton?

Please welcome me to the bandwagon as I show you my latest FO:

(Pardon
the picture quality. I haven't unearthed my camera cable yet, so it was
      taken with my iSight.)
Pattern: Jayne hat (cobbled together from a
      couple of different online sources)
Yarn: Lamb's Pride Bulky in
Prairie Fire, Orange You Glad, and Lemon Drop. I probably should have
tracked down a duller orange, but it's not quite that bright in person.
Needles:
sz 11 (they were painful on my hands, because I'm so used to using size
      2 lately)

I'm nearly finished with my traveling socks, which just need the
afterthought heels, and I'm making good progress on the baby sweater I'm
working on (nearly finished with sleeve #2). I'm not looking forward to
seaming that, as I've made it out of KP Crayon, and I have a feeling
mattress stitch is going to be difficult to do on that nubbly yarn. Any
      suggestions?

I think my next pair of traveling socks is going to be ribbed. I'm
fairly sick of stockinette and need a bit of a change. I also think I'm
going to rip the Merino Lace Socks. The pattern isn't meshing well with
the yarn I'm using. I will probably start them again with some CTH
      Supersock potluck I have.

HUGE yarn store shoutout. I'm sure everyone's heard of Simply
Sock Yarn Company by now, and I've ordered from her a couple of
times. This last time, I ordered on Wednesday, not especially early in
the day. I got the yarn on FRIDAY. TWO DAYS LATER. I about passed out
on my doorstep when I saw the box. Incredible service, and Allison is
very friendly in email. She's starting to carry more yarn from smaller
dyers, and I think I'm going to have to order again soon--the sample she
sent of Sleeping Dragon is very compelling. (Someone please remind me
that I have enough sock yarn.)
