AppleScripts For You

I have not had time, yet, to create a complete listing of my scripts, with documentation on the more complex, and at least minimal descriptions for every script. So, I'm throwing up this brief "journal" page to fill the gap. I will be replacing this page with a real home page for AppleScripts For You very soon; within the week, I expect.

For now, I have to simply refer you to my downloads page, where you will be able to download any of my scripts. For the existing documentation, please download this PDF file.

Please excuse the fact that the PDF is very much out of date. It refers to another site, and an old directory structure. However, most of the script descriptions are still applicable. I will update this information soon.

Write me if you are interested in having me write a customized AppleScript for you. I work a more-than-full-time job, so have limited time available for outside scripting, but I do take on small to medium projects from time to time. I write scripts for Microsoft Entourage, FileMaker Pro, and Word, plus Finder. I've done some scripting for BBEdit and Tex-Edit Plus as well, and can tackle other scriptable applications.

My normal rate for writing scripts is $50 per hour, with a $50 minimum. I accept payment via Paypal, using an email address I will provide you with.

Here is a little more information about my script downloads page (link above).

You’ll notice four main folders here:

Entourage OS X & 2004 contains scripts for Microsoft Entourage v X and 2004, on OS X. I am usually using the most recent version of the OS and Entourage, and I often don’t attempt to make my scripts backward compatible. If you run into problems, I’ll try to help, but no promises. There are sometimes two versions of the same script, one that runs in vX and another for 2004. The later version, of course, is the 2004 version.

Entourage (2001) Scripts contains scripts for Microsoft Entourage 2001. I am not regularly writing scripts for this application any more. All the scripts here worked when I last used them, but are offered as is. No promise to help you debug. If you look in the Entourage v X folder, you will find newer scripts, some of which may work with Entourage 2001. Again, no guarantees. Don’t ask me to make a script written for X work for 2001; I won’t do it. A few of these scripts were not written by me, but I adapted them for Entourage and so include them here. (Mac OS 9.x)

Outlook Express Scripts contains scripts for Microsoft Outlook Express, mostly for 5.x, but a few that work with OE 4.5. These are on OS 9 only, of course. I have not used OE for years, am not writing new scripts for it, and cannot any longer test scripts for it, so these are offered as is, if you find them useful.

The fourth folder is called Beta Testing. That’s just what it is; software that is under development. Some brave souls, friends of mine, come here to download various versions and to make suggestions or complaints. They help me debug. Most people should ignore this directory.
