| 13 April 2004 - After Hinsdale |
|
On the way back from Hinsdale, I conned Mom into stopping in again at the South Shore in Michigan City, Indiana. We followed the line into town a ways, seeing all kinds of signals - red, yellow, green - that led us to both believe that either there was a train running around somewhere or that signal system was screwed up. Our first stop was at Beverly Shores. Now that I think about it, it was a good thing (as Martha Sterwart would say) that I didn't shoot any trains at Beverly shores as the light was all messed up.
No sooner did we arrive at the Carroll Avenue station than a headlight popped over the hill. Notice all the trash - this neighborhood was not very nice.
Crossing the diamond and pulling into the station.
We put the rental car into orbit getting up on the bridge over the station and created a traffic scene when I got out of the car in the middle of the bridge.
These trains were waiting in the yard and fouling the main. The train that had just stopped at the station had to run around the whole mess on the tracks to the far left to continue on to South Bend.
A parting shot of the service facility. The NICTD diesel finally came out from behind the trash pile.
Add this catch to the two days at hinsdale - ! - why on earth would I want to be doing anything else with my life? |
