Bessemer Part II

The situation on Friday, February 27 was much the same as the previous visit. The only train that ran was the scrap train, and it ran fast. But I was furious enough over the previous trip that I wasn’t going to be taking slowness from anything. We had to do a few questionable driving moves to deal with several of the delays, but the net result was that I returned from Pennsylvania with more photographs than the previous visit. Presented below is a selection of photographs from the day. There are multiples from each location, but as this is probably my last visit in pre-CN days, it doesn’t really matter. (Besides, I’m only clogging up Apple’s vast bandwidth, and if I mixed all the photos up, you probably couldn’t tell that they were only from a few locations anyway.) Hope you enjoy.

The same set of locomotives as on Wednesday brought another scrap train north to Osgood. At first I thought that the train was headed north, but the engines ran around the train and started south on the "High Line" around Greenville.

The truck was waiting in the siding to go on in to Greenville. Why it didn't just get off at the crossing and drive into town is beyond me.

The sound of the three SD40-T3's carried for miles down the valley.

Passing through the industrial area on the north side of Greenville.

Freedonia, Pennsylvania.

A grab shot through the driver's side window.

Cool Spring, Pennsylvania.

Grove City, Pennsylvania.

Sherwin, Pennsylvania. We lost the train (or thought we did) in Branchton. Seems it tied down there for the afternoon.

Perhaps if CN doesn't fire everybody important or repaint all the locomotives by summer, I will return. Gosh, I hope so. Once the Bessemer Bug bites, you're infected for life.
