Happy New Year!

Only when I go on vacation does it cloud up for an entire week.

On the first day of the new year I slept in until noon. Figuring the railroads wouldn’t be running any trains, I turned my attention to the ships in the bay. The view from the front of Aunt Marian's and Uncle Karl's looks out over the bay and there was a self-unloader outside at 1 p.m.

I couldn't tell what the name of the boat was from the first set of photos and got no further with the second. I originally thought that the boat had a load of coal for the south Marquette power plant, but the boat went around in circles for several hours and never went near the power plant.

Mystery revealed! The ship is the Herbert C. Jackson of the Interlake fleet. Photo was taken around 11 p.m. and still needs some work.
