Step 4: Wiring up the Adapters

You will want your adapters to be fairly short since they need to span a few inches. My adapter ended up being about 8 inches long. Wires 3 and 4 on the VW harness were not cut until I installed the lights into the car. More on that later. The wires simply snap into place in the VW adapter. Make sure the wires go all the way into the adapter and snap into place. I also used shrink tubing to cover the solder joints. Make sure you slip the tube over the wire before you start soldering. Another option is to use electrical tape, but it isn't quite as durable as the shrink tubes.

1: On the inside ring of the Ford adapter you will see numbers on the side where the wires come out of the plastic.
the wires are in locations 4, 6 and 7.

2: On the VW adapter there are numbers for each wire also. You will be wiring up 1,2,3,4,6, and 8.

3: Take wire 7 from the Ford adapter and solder it to wire 2 on the VW adapter (low/xenon light).

4: Solder wire 6 on Ford to wire 1 on the VW adapter (high beams).

5: Solder wire 4 on Ford and splice it with wire 6 and 8 (ground)

6: Leave wires 3 (city lights) and 4 (turn signal) from the VW adapter at full length until you actually install the lights into the car

7: Look at the ends of the VW adapter and push in the little plastic clip when all of the wires are firmly seated

8: Change fuse #'s 16 & 17 in the fuse block under the hood to 15 amp fuses.
