Last Day at the Lazy Lagoon

Planes and Fishes

The morning view from the cabin.

We spent the last day at the Lazy Lagoon collecting video and QTVRs as well as cleaning up what we already had shot. Todd, Harvey and Chantal went for a plane ride to shoot fly-bys of the location while I stayed back to work on the Mobitel commercial. Waiting for the plane, the guys met about 50 kids who came out to see the plane land...it’s quite an attraction here. After some distance, Chantal began showing the kids themselves in the camera. No language was needed for them to become friends. Todd has some great photos of the event...hopefully, he’ll post them on his blog...

The crew flying by...

In the afternoon, I took a little time out to shoot some starfish in the rocks and witness an amazing fishing process as about 25 men and boys pulled a net of fish in while some pushed the fish to the front. As the crew laughed and cheered their catch, I became present to how happiness and wealth are relative. There are many people I know in the west with far more “wealth” that never express happiness at this level. Often times, we see fulfillment as “wealthy” when many in the west are wealthy and not fulfilled. It doesn’t mean that opportunity for more shouldn’t be expressed in Africa...just that success should be measured in many ways and the costs of success not taken lightly.

Starfish with teeth

We bought more fish at the seaside market. Another boat and another crew...all keen to sell us fish and to have a picture taken...as long as they got prints. As in Zimbabwe, this is often more valuable than money for these guys.

We made our way home and slept soundly getting ready for more on Sunday.

BTW...Just a note...As I think I’ve said before...I am horribly dyselxic...you may find typo’s in many of these Blogs (flipped letters, words, and synonyms are common)...This is already after 4-5 passes to find the glitches...I hope you can still enjoy them. I really enjoy writing them and I’m trying to get better at checking them.
