notes
Evidently, the tune is named for the "sorongo" drum featured on this cut -- or perhaps it is a reference to the player/author himself. As stated on whatmusic: "[Pedro dos Santos is] ... the inventor of the Sorongo (he’s sometimes credited as Pedro Sorongo), a kind of hollow bamboo drum similar to the african log drum..."

Baden Powell a Vontade (Elenco, 1963; Universal, 2003) is available from dusty groove here -- Baden's uncanny talent for spontaneous yet intensely rhythmic playing is well represented on this highly recommended CD (big al sez: check it out).

Also, please check out the excellent site Brazil on Guitar devoted entirely to Baden Powell with an extensive discography, transcriptions, and other related info.
