Heading to a safe place in the hills, spending a couple of hours shooting at tin cans, cleaning up the trash and heading home. What Fun.

Salt Creek
One of many tide pools.
Salt Creek faces North. The view is across the Strait of Juan De Fuca to Vancouver Island. Rocky shores.Tide pools. Kelp, and an expansive, sandy beach adjoining a rocky point. Sitting on the beach, digging our bare feet into the deep, fine, sand - sipping beer, watching ships enter the strait from the Pacific Ocean. Just the very tops of the ships visible at first. Spotting a Bald Eagle. Fog horns day and night at the end of the trip. A favorite place.

Old Story/New Photo
I took the canoe to the Mats Mats Bay/Klas Rocks area. The sky was gray, no wind. I saw many seals and a couple of Bald Eagles. I anchored in the kelp bed near the rocks and hooked into one of the nicest fish I have ever caught. It was a good sized Cabezon. The fish used the kelp forest to resist being brought up to the canoe. I took a couple of pictures of it on the surface, then I turned it loose. The tide was outgoing. I'll fish an incoming tide next time and see what happens.
