Vestiges II
Steel particles and Rust Dimensions variable 2009
‘Vestiges II’ makes reference to a post industrial era. The work consists of a variety of tones of actual rust and particles obtained from steel which is composed on the floor of a space in the form of a floor or carpet design that alludes to the site itself. The former function of Shaddon Mill informs the textile design that is appropriated on the floor of this particular space. The piece is video recorded being vacuumed away after the show; an activity which will relate to both the carpet itself and the steady disappearance of certain industries.
