We pretended that we were in a plane crash and were only aloud to take six items with us from the wreck. We all had to choose 6 items from the plane between us.
The point of the game was to co-operate with each other and listen to each others ideas. We were given our sheets and told that we had to read through them, work out what to do and how we were going to co-operate with each other.
We selected Nick as our captain who had the responsibility of making sure that all the children had their say on what they think we should do. The captain led us in the activity giving us all a chance to speak. It was hard for the captain because everyone was shouting out at him and he found it hard to organise 12 – 13 people.
In the activity we voted for answers of what we think the best solution was for the situation. It was important that we all had our say and co-operated with each other to come up with a solution.
Lots of people were shouting at the captain and suggesting ideas but as they were shouting the captain couldn’t hear. Hannah came up with the idea of voting after sitting with her had up for quite a long time. If every one wasn’t shouting as much, the captain may have got around hearing each other ideas so that we didn’t waste as much time in the lesson.
We also agreed that a better way of making our list would have been to break up into smaller groups to come up with lists and then try to form one list from the group lists.
We made up group rules by mind mapping our ideas in groups of 4 or 5. Then as one big group we chose the ideas that we thought were most important.
