Aboriginal shields |

Tasmanian Tiger |
We
next visited the South Australian Museum. They have an excellent
collection of aboriginal pieces and collections of natural history material.
This is as close as we will likely get to a thylacine or Tasmanian tiger. There
are
claimed occasional
sightings, but it is not too likely.

McLaren Vale wine region |

Cape Jervis light house |

Sea lion 2000 ferry |
| We
then left for Kangaroo Island and traveled through the McLaren Vale,
another famous wine region. This is the light house at Cape Jervis from
where we took the ferry. |

The Ozone Hotel |

Black swans on Kangaroo Island |

Fairy penguin dens |
This
is our hotel, the Ozone Hotel; it is right on the water, but we did not
have an very good view from our room. The room itself was a bit spartan,
but was
ok. There were many birds on the beach, including black swans with their
cygnet. This
beach also has nesting
fairy penguins, we saw then in a night tour, but we took film pictures
of those with fast film as you can not use the flash on them as it might damage
their eyes. |

Stokes Bay Beach |

A green parrot |

Kookaburra |
The
next day we took our first of two day long tours. It began at
Stokes Bay, a white sand beach. We then visited Parndana Wildlife
Park. We saw
a wide variety of birds including the kookaburra and this green parrot that I
need to identify (I think it might
be a female or an immature superb parrot).
