Waisman CenterBen goes to preschool 2 mornings a week and has
lots of fun playing. This summer he was in dewdrops, a program where the parent
comes along. Now he is a moonbeams and goes by himself. This preschool is set
up so kids with disabilities are mixed in with typically developing kids, which
is something we really like. This first photo is of a llittle guy with down
syndrome who was in the summer program with Ben. Besides the kids and the toys,
another high point of the Waisman Center is that one of the outdoor play areas
is right next to the UW Hospital helicopter landing pad. Ben would get very
excited and yell "ky! ky" (for "sky", which was his word for airplane, by fall
he switched to calling it a "came" as in "aircame". Ben got interested in
airplanes when we flew to Oklahoma in June.
