Journey to Grand Canyon

Labor Day 2003 - From Denver to Flagstaff, and back. On the way, Arches National Park in UTAH, then Monument Valley and Four Corners . Ready ? All passengers in the car !!!

That's it ! Nice weather, nice temperture, nice raods, nice car !! Quite a trip ! But at the end it's the Grand Canyon ! Worth the journey ! From Denver, cross the Rockies and reach Utah .. .. and right after the border , first stop in Moab, "Arches National Park" . These natural arches have been carved by wind and rain in .. ... a red stone (Iron oxide). But there are also different shapes... ... very impressive by their dimension or regularity. This is " Park Avenue" . But of course, there are many arches !!! We noticed that nobody talks while passing below this one !!! Note the lengt, the height, the repeating pattern. One may go between the rocks All variations can be found : slanted or doubled ! Note the dimension of the visitors . Experience the majesty of these arches On our way to the most beautiful arches, walking through .. .. this lunar landscape ! (Actually, the domes are from Mars (Red !) ) Ghyzou , at ease in this final passage, the Delicate Arche is just after it . That was worth the walk in plain sun ! Delicate , oh Yes ! But nothing from " petite " , it is huge ! We can't stop taking pictures from all angles ... .... getting closer.... ... or trying to encompass the whole landscape ! On the road again, swallowing miles and miles, heading South toward Arizona. Breathtaking views Astounding colors mixed shapes from vertical to horizontal, via sine curves ... and gradually, we feel it ! We feel it's presence, more and more. This river down there is the Colorado, we just have to follow it ! And be ready to get the shock in the eyes ! And in the mind as well ! Wherever you look to, it is still the Grand Canyon ! .. always there, but always different So high ! and sooooooo deep ! At times, knees are wobbling Colors also are changing Red, dust , sun and sand heart pounding, teeth chattering and missing a breathe , ... or two, or more .... Soooo often !! Yellow grass, red rocks, blue shadows !
