Meet the Press
I thought Russert did an adequate job of asking the
president hard questions on Meet the Press on Sunday. I just wish there had been
more followups. The entire hour could have been spent with followups to his
statements on Iraq.
A couple of
questions I had:
Bush said Saddam
Hussein was "paying for suicide bombers" and had "terrorist connections". What
was the evidence for that?
Bush also
stated that "containment doesn't work". What did he mean by that? Wasn't Saddam
Hussein contained? How was he a threat to anyone if he didn't have any weapons?
Is there an example other than Iraq where containment hasn't
worked?
Bush characterized terrorists
as "living in caves" and implied that they were foreigners. Don't we have
terrorists here in the United States? Aren't they a threat as well?
