Point/Counter-point

This is how the right wing will try to counter our arguments in the upcoming election. It’s up to you to figure out how to counter them. Go ahead and post your answers!

1) Argument on the policy of ‘pre-emption’:
This was not a pre-emptive war. The cease fire of 1991 was dependant on destroying their weapons in a way that was blatantly verifiable. They did not do this.

2) Argument on tax cuts for wealthy folk:
They pay the majority of the taxes, so they should receive the majority of a tax break. (NOTE: This is quite logical, and could easily dupe many people. I’ll give you my take on this one- there should not be tax cuts for them in the first place because we can’t afford it and you don’t need to save money when you have 15 billion dollars. While I do not hate the rich, I don’t pity them either.)

3) Argument that they hyped intelligence:
Intelligence is never 100% accurate and our president had the moral clarity to cut through the bull and do what had to be done. After all, SADDAM GASSED HIS OWN PEOPLE (with chemicals we gave him. We blamed it on Iran.)

4) Argument that the economy isn’t as strong as they say it is:
The economy is building strength. We have seen productivity numbers that are through the roof. We are now adding jobs.

(This one is kind of a softball, but give it a whirl.)

5) The possibility Bush was AWOL from National Guard duties:
The National Guard is vital to our nation’s security, so quit making it sound like some mamby pampby organization that my pappy got me in.

(Bush used 1,3,4,5 on Meet the Press. - Felix)
