Bush's Brain

This morning, as usual, we were watching Pinky and the Brain as we ate our cereal before going off to church.

In the episode, titled "But that's not all folks!", Brain has pirated a television signal from an old Army satellite in order to broadcast an infomercial with a product so irresistible that everyone in the world will call in, and leave their address. Then, with all those addresses, Brain will deluge the world with junk mail. Finally the world will elect him as the Ruler of the World because only he can get rid of all the junk mail.

Midway through the episode, a US Army General who has been riveted to his television, watching the infomercial, says something to the effect that if we don't buy this irresistible product, then the terrorists win, and you're either with us or against us.

OK, so it's an amusing little poke at our current Pinky-In-Chief, right?

Wrong.

The episode was first aired November 8, 1997, which leads to the inevitable conclusion that our dear President Pinky gets his ideas about economics and foreign policy from children's cartoons.

That reminds me of a quote from the series, slightly altered: "This is the Earth and this is President Bush. You can tell the difference quite easily. One is a lump of inert matter hurtling blindly through the void. The other .... is the Earth."
