I Feel the Earth Move Under My Feet ...... I feel the sky tumbling
down.
We had an earthquake last night. I woke up and the bed was rocking. This is where my disaster training is inappropriate for such events. In the Midwest, if the house shakes and you don't hear lightning or hail or rain, then it's probably just a big truck driving by outside or maybe the MedFlight helicopter coming in low over the house to land at the hospital across the street. If it were a real emergency, then you'd hear thunder and lightening and a big siren outside and you'd grab the kittehs and run to the basement. But since none of those things were happening, I just rolled over and went back to sleep. Running to the basement is a good idea if a tornado is coming, but not a great idea in an earthquake. Clearly if we ever move out to California, I'm going to have to have my emergency response chip recalibrated. Posted: Fri - April 18, 2008 at 12:23 PM |
