Silly Kansans...

Apparently growing corn doesn't keep the good residents of Kansas busy enough. So, they need to spend their time arguing about evil-ution. They spend a good deal of time having these arguments, it seems to me. In fact, the only time I ever hear anything about Kansas is when they're having yet another argument about evil-ution.

Now the argument isn't the usual one about whether or not evil-ution is a credible theory. Nor is it the typical "you should teach Creationism in the schools" debate. Nope, this time it's the "you should teach Intelligent Design in the schools."

Creationists, angry that a little thing like the Consititution is keeping their beliefs out of the public schools, have decided to do an end run and create a silly (and disingenuous) belief system called "intelligent design." How does "intelligent design" differ from "creationism?" Oh, they are vastly different! Anywhere you see the word "God" in creationism, simply replace it with "an intelligent designer."

Nice huh? Now they have developed a belief system that is offensive to both Christians and scientists.

I can respect the beliefs of creationists. Hell, I hold those beliefs. Like them, I believe God created and continues to create the universe. I am at least honest about my beliefs and don't try a little verbal two-step about "intelligent design."
