 Coruscant (HyperNews) -- In a move that surprised no one, the Galactic Senate elected former Senator Palpatine from Naboo as its next Pope. The move is seen as a strong move against the growing Separatist movement led by former Jedi, Count Dooku.
Senator Palpatine was elected after former Chancelor Valorum received a no confidence vote during the Trade Federation's blockade of Naboo.
Upon his appointment to the Papacy, Pope Palpatine's first act was to establish a "Grand Army of the Republic" to put down the Separatist movement. This army, primarily composed of clones and led by the Jedi, has taken the battle to the Separatists on several planets.
Though some believe that Pope Palpatine's overconfidence is his weakness, according to the new Pope, "Everything that has transpired has done so according to my design."
Only time will tell whether this new Pope can end this destructive conflict and bring order to the galaxy. |
