Cable box: Coax in and out, composite video out, audio L/R out. (Well, at least until Friday, when they come to install the HDTV cable box...then I'll have to reconnect everything.)
TV: 2 Component Video In, 4 Composite In, 3 S-Video In, 1 HDMI in. Plus the audio L/R in to go with all of them.
First we had to take the TiVo to a friend's house because you need a phone line for the initial set-up and we got rid of our land line months ago. But the set-up takes a few hours, so we had to leave it and come back and pick it up. When we did get it home, it turns out the USB-to-Wireless adapter we got didn't work and we had to get a different one, and then get that configured.
I'm not stupid. Really, I'm not. I know that usually when someone says, "Don't treat me like I'm an idiot, I'm not stupid" that they're usually very stupid. However, you'll just have to believe me. I'm not. Given the conversations I've had with other people, it appears that I'm also reasonably technically-able. I've even got a 3 college degrees, working on the 4th (which proves absolutely nothing, I just thought I'd mention it.) Combine that with the fact that my husband isn't stupid either and you'd think this would not be that difficult.
So why is hooking up a new TiVo and a new television something akin to building a Saturn V rocket from assorted Volkswagen parts? |
