i.ching is a simple widget that casts a hexagram on your Dashboard using an algorithm that mimics the results of the ancient yarrow stick method of consulting the I Ching.

Install
Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger is required. If you’re using Safari, click the download link. When the widget download is complete, show Dashboard, click the Plus sign to display the Widget Bar and click the widget’s icon in the Widget Bar to open it. If you’re using a browser other than Safari, click the download link. When the widget download is complete, unarchive it and place it in /Library/Widgets/ in your home folder. Show Dashboard, click the Plus sign to display the Widget Bar and click the widget’s icon in the Widget Bar to open it.

How much does the i.ching widget cost?
The i.ching widget is freeware, but donations are appreciated if you find it to be useful. Just click the PayPal icon to the left and follow the instructions.
How do I cast a hexagram?
Click the Tai Chi (Yin/Yang) button to cast the hexagram. The widget will open to reveal the result.
How do I close the widget?
Click the Tai Chi (Yin/Yang) button. If it is already open, the widget will close.
What are the lines for?
The unbroken lines indicate Yang flow, while the broken lines indicate Yin flow. The lines, referred to as Yao, are grouped by threes into Trigrams, which are in turn grouped together into a Hexagram.
What are the dots for?
Dots indicate the changing nature of the Yao and are used to determine the approaching hexagram.
Can I have more than one i.ching widget on my Dashboard?
Yes.
