Shad Valley has played a fairly significant role in my life. I would view it as one of the formative events of my pre-university life. Over time, I have grown to learn that it represents a beginning, rather than an end and as such, have continued my own involvement with this in mind. My continuing involvement with Shad Valley represents a belief in the ideals which the program is based upon, and its ability to help keep me young with a positive and fresh outlook on life. I have seen formal education beat the spirit out of too many students, and unfortunately, have joked about this tendency myself.
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers is one of the leading professional organizations in the world for Engineers. For more information, take a look at the IEEE Web Page. I have been a student member of the IEEE since 1997 and an associate member since 1999.
The Professional Engineers of Ontario is the licensing organization governing all engineers in Ontario. To learn more about the PEO, take a look at the PEO Web Page.
Members of the company program in the Niagara Penninsula are also given the opportunity to participate in the Hewlett Packard Business Challenge. During the years I worked as and advisor, I also helped students involved in the HP Business Challenge.

Junior Achievement
From 1999 to 2002 I acted as an advisor and an auditor with Junior Achievement of the Niagara Penninsula in the company program. I have also been involved as a trainer in the officer training element of this program. When I moved to St. Catharines, a good friend of mine suggested that I get involved with this organization knowing my involvement with Shad Valley and also as a means to become active in the community. The company program is an after school program for secondary school students. In this program the students start up, operate and finally liquidate a business operation.
