8. Erwin Conrad Evanson, b. Oct. 11, 1905 at Northwood, ND, d. Aug. 1, 1972. Attended St. Olaf College, graduated from Mayville State Teachers College; spent 31 years in teaching, 15 years in wholesale automotive sales work; his first interest was his home, family, and church, although his hobbies were many: fishing, hunting, camping, rock collecting, sports of all kinds. Married in Northwood, ND, to Manda Carene Johnson, b. Apr. 11, 1912. Manda taught school before marriage. Raised a family of three, went back to college after 50 years, graduated B.S., and is now teaching remedial reading in the Bismarck School System. Her interest lies in school and church, plus sewing, gardening, and of course her grandchildren.

    1. Peter S. Evanson II, b. Nov. 3, 1937 Northwood, ND. d. Dec. 15, 2004. m. Sept. 10, 1961 to Sharon Kay Vandaveer at Neodesha, KS; divorced in 1971. Remarried Susan G. (Hirsch) Briggs in 1972. Peter served in the U.S. Navy beginning in 1955 as an aviation electrician. He landed a job with General Dynamics Corp. in Oct. 1959 as an electronics technician on the Atlas missile program (D, E, and F Series), our country’s first inter-continental ballistic missile. He proceded to McDonnell Douglas Corp. in 1963 to work on the Gemini space capsule, followed by a two-year stint at the Boeing Co. plant in Huntsville, AL for the Saturn V moon rocket program. In 1966 he went to work for the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics as a system engineer on submarines.
