Mrs. Pecci's Documents

We will start working in Photoshop in the upstairs computer lab on October 30th. Mrs. Pecci has the schedule for your class.

BEFORE then you will need to complete 2 drawings, one of the flower and one of the bird from the state you chose. Both drawings have to be in Sharpie. Be sure to close up any gaps in your drawing or you will have difficulty coloring your image.

Ms. Agustsson needs time to scan your pictures and e-mail the digitized versions to you. Remember, you are only one person, but I have 100 of you sending me pictures. I cannot scan your pictures during lab time because it takes too long. Get your pictures done on time.

When you get your pictures in your e-mail you will need to save them to your H-drive. The best thing to do is to make a new file to save them into.

In your H-drive, right click on your mouse and select New File. Call your file Calendar.

You will not see your pictures in the e-mail. Instead you will see little icons of paper clips. Right click on the mouse and select save as. Navigate to your H-drive, select the Calendar folder, and hit save. Now you are ready to begin in the lab.

The first day in the lab Ms. Agustsson will give you basic Photoshop lessons. You will only have 2 periods in the lab, so make sure you make the most of your time.

Photoshop has a yellow sunflower for an icon. Double click to open it. You will see a big panel with that same sunflower in the middle of the screen. Close that image by clicking on the X.

You will need to have 2 panels on the right open, Layers and Undo History. Ms. Agustsson will show you how to drag them down.

Then you will look on the top for File>New. When you click there a box will pop open. Here is where you choose the size of your picture. The picture should be 6 inches wide by 4.25 inches high. Make sure that inches, not pixels are selected. The image also needs to be 150 dpi. Also check to make sure the image is in color not grayscale.

Now you are ready to open the pictures you saved to your H-drive. Go to File>Open. Navigate to your H-drive and the Calendar folder. Select the picture and click Open.

You will get basic instructiions in the lab, but in case you run into difficulties check the Photoshop Tutorial on this website.

If you need a picture for reference, check out these places.
