My Town: Staunton, VA: Birthplace of Woodrow WilsonPeople always talk about how great it is where they
live, but I challenge anyone to find a cuter town than the one I live in. We
even have a home designed by
Jefferson.
"Staunton is a city in transition, and I hope it's a slow one, because so far there's nothing cookie cutter about the place. Founded in 1747 and unscathed through the Civil War, the city is as real as it gets. So are its friendly residents, who will take an even greater shine to you if you know how to pronounce their hometown. It's STANT-un." -Boston Globe ![]() "Over the years a number of artisans and
artists have been woven into the fabric of the area culture: John Sheets, the
riflemaker; Caleb Bingham, the painter; Grandma Moses, the folk artist; and T.J.
Collins, the architect, each called the area home. Of these, Collins was one who
stayed and left his signature on the local landscape through the more than one
thousand public and private buildings he designed."

Many films are made here because much of the architecture and charm from turn of the century are still around. They filmed Hearts in Atlantis here. Come Visit!
