In God We Trust

Religion is about more than faith today...it is about commerce...

Jesus is a product.

Now I'm an agnostic/deist, but I do respect Jesus...and I have to tell ya...he was a radical hippie freak...and if he were alive today, every conservative Republican would take one look at him and tell him to cut his hair and get a job. I also find it interesting that the large amount of conservative folks on the right, worship one of the most radical liberal socialists in history.

In this piece I decided I would merge the two most commercially recognized icons today. Jesus & Ronald. The Church and McDonalds. The Cross and the Arches.

Each person at the table has a cup with the golden arches, each plate has a burger and fries. Ronald is peeking over shoulders, and in the distance, you easily see the Golden Arches.

The point of this piece is that Jesus isn't a man with a message anymore...he's an icon. People worship the man while they ignore his words. If Jesus were alive today, he'd be appalled that his image has become one of the most commercially viable icons in the world. The money lenders are back in the temple...and the temple is making big bucks.

By the way...this piece...unlike Jesus...is not for sale.
