Terrain Analysis for W6YX-Palo Alto, CA.
Thanks to Dean, N6BV and the programs HFTA and Microdem!
W6YX has 60 ft. high East and West Towers and a 60 ft. Metal Pole.
The East and West towers have very similar terrain profiles, so only data for the West tower is presented.
- West Tower "W" is at 122W 10' 1.98" x 37N 24' 14.42" .
- Metal Pole "M" is at 122W 9' 55.53" x 37N 24' 10.52" .
- USGS Quad "Palo Alto".
There are three separate pages for the analyses to:
- Europe, azimuth 30 degrees, downhill slope.
- South America, azimuth 120 degrees, downhill slope.
- Japan, azimuth 300 degrees, across the ridgetop, then downhill.
Each page shows four images:
- the terrain,
- result for 14 MHz,
- result for 21 MHz, and
- result for 28 MHz.
Each result compares antennas at:
- 60 ft high - West Tower "W" - actual terrain,
- 60 ft high - Metal Pole "M" - actual terrain, and
- 60 ft high over flat ground for comparison.
The current antennas are various 4 to 6 element yagis, at 60 or 70 ft (10 ft mast above tower),
modeled as a 4-el yagi on each band.
