How to with Final Cut Pro or Express:
Aim:
Here we will work with an existing Sequence in Final Cut and from there turn it into a 3gpp file.
What will you need:
Hardware: A G4 - G5 Mac that will run Final Cut Pro - Express.
Software: Final Cut Pro - Express - for more info click here.
1. First of all open up Final Cut. Applications > Final Cut Pro or Express
- Tip: A shortcut to Applications folder when in the finder is to press "Shift + Apple key + A"
2. Next we will select the Time Line window/box and then also what Sequence we want. In this case it will be Sequence 1 in my example.
3. Now we can go to File > Export > Using QuickTime Conversion...

4. You will then see a new window pop-up, if you Save: Movie to 3G > then click "Options..."

5. Now we can fine-tune our movie to play over the internet for GPRS and 3G phones. Under the Video tab the settings are as follows:
- Video: optional mpeg-4 or H.263
- Date rate: 20 to 25 kbits / second - (if you want your movie to stream to your GPRS and 3G phones)
- Frames per second: 8 to 15
- Key frame every: 24 to 99
- Re-synch markers: tick - (Adds re-sync markers inside the video frames to help with loss recovery when streaming)
- Size: 176 x 144

6. Under the Audio tab, the settings are as follows:
- Audio: AMR-NB (Speech)
- Data Rate: 4.72 kbps note: if your creating audio only files then 12.2 kbps
- Channels: Mono
- Frames per sample: 5
- Silence detection: tick - (Available only with AMR audio, this option detects audio portions with low signal levels and adjusts the data rate of the output accordingly)

7. Last but not least we will hint our movie. Under the Streaming tab here are the settings:
- Enable streaming: tick
- Maximum packet size: 380 up to 480 bytes - (This is aimed at GPRS packet size and will work on anything else above)
- Maximum packet duration: 100 msec
- Optimise for server: tick - (helps the server to process the file faster, but increases the file size)

8. Now you can click "OK" then name your file and save it, ready to be put up on your streaming server or direct to your phone.
